September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
Ovarian cancer is a devastating disease. It is often detected late, since symptoms such as abdominal bloating and lower back pain are common to many other ailments, and like most diseases, the later the diagnosis, the more difficult it is to treat effectively. However, when detected early enough, the survival rate can be as high as 95%. In an effort to help women recognize their symptoms and pursue treatment before the disease progresses, September has been designated Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Represented by the teal ribbon, Ovarian Cancer Awareness is an important cause to women of all ages and the men in their lives that love them. Continue reading
