Survivors are inspirers! Throw a pink ribbon party to honor them and raise money for breast cancer awareness.
As breast cancer awareness month begins to wind down, it’s a good time to reflect on the wonderful accomplishments that have been made in fighting this devastating disease. One of the most rewarding and enjoyable ways to do this is to celebrate breast cancer survivors. You can do this by holding a pink ribbon party after a fundraising event for Susan G. Komen for the Cure or Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Here are some tips to get you going:
1) Give each person at the party a pink ribbon goody bag – Fill each goody bag with sweet pink treats like packages of cotton candy, bubble gum, or ingredients for pink ribbon sugar cookies along with the recipe. You can include some small but practical pink ribbon items, like pink ribbon pens, in the goody bag as well.
2) Give each survivor a special pink ribbon gift – Invite each breast cancer survivor at the party to come up and receive a gift. You can present them with pink ribbon survivor pins and/or pink ribbon survivor bracelets, and give them an opportunity to speak. Whether they tell their personal story, or simply raise breast cancer awareness by encouraging women to get their mammograms at age 40, they are leading by example and acting as an inspiration to all.
3) Sell pink ribbon fundraising merchandise – Set up a table with a pink tablecloth and pink ribbon balloons where you can sell pink ribbon jewelry, pink ribbon magnets, pink ribbon coffee mugs and more. People will be glad to purchase these pink ribbon items to help raise money for breast cancer awareness and to find a cure for this disease. Encourage people to make a donation by offering pink ribbon silicone bracelets in exchange for any amount given. Many people will give more than you might expect, helping you raise even more money for Komen for the Cure or other breast cancer charity.
