Selling Autism Awareness Items on Facebook

Raise money for your favorite cause by selling autism awareness items

Chances are you’ve been happy to help out a friend who was raising money for a cause near and dear to her.  You’ve probably pledged online to her Autism Speaks walk, bought a 50/50 raffle ticket (or several), or sent in a check on her behalf.  April is Autism Awareness month, so it’s a great time to commit to fundraising to this important cause that affects so many people.  Just as you’re happy to help your friends raise money for their cause, they’ll be happy to help you too. Selling autism awareness items on Facebook is a wonderful way to raise money and show your support for people with autism and those who love them.  Here are some tips to help you get started:

Autism Awareness BraceletAutism Awareness Bracelet – Selling Autism Awareness Items on Facebook

Selling Autism Awareness Items on Facebook Tip #1: Sell something that’s high quality so you’ll be comfortable asking your friends to buy it (and they’ll be comfortable asking their friends).  For example, an autism ribbon bracelet with a puzzle charm is something your friends will be proud to wear and to give as gifts.  You can purchase these autism ribbon bracelets for $4.00 each and sell them on Facebook in the $10-$20 range.  After you pay yourself back the $4.00 per bracelet you spent, you’ll have $6-$16 per bracelet to donate to your favorite autism awareness charity!

Selling Autism Awareness Items on Facebook Tip #2: Tell your friends your story.  Don’t just post that you’re selling autism awareness items; post your reasons why.  Maybe you know someone struggling with autism, or you have a friend whose child is on the spectrum. Whatever your personal reasons are for wanting to raise money for autism awareness are, be sure to share them, and then ask them to buy your autism awareness items to help your cause. Your story will move your friends to want to make the purchase and to share your efforts with their friends as well.

Selling Autism Awareness Items on Facebook Tip #3: Keep the conversation going. When one of your friends comments on your wall post, or offers to purchase one of your autism awareness items, be sure to not only Like their post but also to comment.  Don’t be afraid to thank individuals publicly on Facebook who purchase your autism awareness items; people love to be recognized for doing something good. Tag your friends in your responses to bring extra attention to their efforts.  Invite your friends to share your posts on their own walls and to ask their friends to show their support. You may be surprised to see your campaign go viral and raise more money for autism awareness than you anticipated!

Selling Autism Awareness Items on Facebook Tip #4: Update your status often. Set a goal for your fundraising efforts and post often about how close you are to reaching it.  Don’t wait until Autism Awareness Month is over to let your friends know how you did; keeping them updated will keep them engaged, making you more likely to reach and exceed your goal with their support and enthusiasm.

Selling autism awareness items on Facebook is easy and fun, and it’s one of the best ways to raise money for your cause.  Visit http://www.fundraisingforacause.com for more fundraising tips and the biggest selection of autism awareness items.

April is Autism Awareness Month

Here are some autism fundraising ideas to help you raise money for your cause

When spring comes, our thoughts turn to warmth, renewal and hope.  Since April is Autism Awareness Month, we think of ways to help those with autism, and those who love them, cope.  We plan autism fundraising events to raise money for new programs and research, and we believe our efforts will give those with autism hope for a brighter future.  There are many ways you bring attention to this good cause and show your support for people with autism.  Here are a couple you can try:

April is Autism Awareness Month Autism Ribbon Lanyard

April is Autism Awareness Month - Autism Ribbon Lanyard

April is Autism Awareness Month in the Workplace: Do you and your co-workers wear a lanyard to work each day? If so, why not wear your id badges and keys on an Autism Ribbon Lanyard?  Autism Ribbon Lanyards are an easy and colorful way for you and your co-workers to show your support.  To organize this autism fundraiser, set up a table in the break room or cafeteria with an autism ribbon banner and some autism ribbon balloons tied to it to attract attention. Tell everyone that you’re selling the lanyards and that the profits will be going to your favorite autism awareness charity, such as Autism Speaks or a local nonprofit group.  You can take orders for the lanyards in advance, or you can purchase an amount to sell, but be sure to get a few extra just in case. Many people will want to buy an autism ribbon lanyard for a friend, or will want to take part at the last minute.  You can collect additional donations for your charity at the table as well.  Once Autism Awareness Month ends, be sure to thank everyone who participated and let them know how much money was raised.  Sending Autism Ribbon Thank You Cards is a great way to do this.  Your co-workers will be proud of their autism fundraising efforts and the card will serve as a nice reminder of their participation all year long.

April is Autism Awareness Month Garage Sale: Spring is a great time for a garage sale, and you can really raise a lot of money at this fun autism fundraising event.   You can do the garage sale at your house, or team up with other houses on your street.  Every house participating should set up a table with autism ribbon balloons and an autism ribbon banner.  Everyone working the garage sale should wear autism ribbon hats and autism ribbon t-shirts.   You can sell items from your home, but it’s an excellent idea to sell some autism fundraising merchandise at the garage sale as well. Another fun thing to do at the garage sale is play a game, like Autism Ribbon Stress Ball Toss.  Also, don’t forget to set up a donation jar and offer an autism silicone bracelet to anyone who makes a donation.  You’ll be surprised at how many donations you’ll get and the dollar amount, even from people who don’t make a purchase.

Hopefully, you’ll use one of these ideas, or a great one of your own this April during Autism Awareness Month!   Vist our website for more autism fundraising tips and autism fundraising merchandise.

Honor Caregivers With Purple Ribbon Gifts During Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

Give someone caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s one of the many purple ribbon gifts available to show you care

November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, which is symbolized by the purple ribbon, and while there is a great deal of focus on those who suffer from this disease, there are also others who should be in our thoughts during this time – the caregivers who stand by for their loved ones, making them as comfortable as possible and ensuring they get the best possible care. These dedicated men and women have to deal with not only the medical realities of Alzheimer’s, but their own grief as well. Here are some ways you can show support for these special people:

Offer to help: Caregivers often get exhausted, both physically and mentally, yet they often don’t express their feelings and simply carry on. You can help by running errands or babysitting for a caregiver you know, or by cooking a few meals for him/her to heat up later for a quick and easy dinner. Most of all, you can simply let him/her know you are there. Listen when he/she needs to speak, or simply sit quietly with him/her and offer a hug or a shoulder to cry on. Your physical and emotional presence is the biggest help of all to a stressed out, exhausted, or grieving caregiver.

Purple Ribbon Angel By My Side Pin

Purple Ribbon Gift Angel By My Side Pin

Give purple ribbon gifts: Even the most caring friend or family member can’t be there 24/7, so why not give an Alzheimer’s caregiver some purple ribbon gifts to remind him/her that he/she is not alone. Our Purple Ribbon Angel By My Side Pin makes a thoughtful and special Alzheimer’s caregiver gift. We also offer several purple ribbon bracelets that make wonderful gifts as well.

Join the fight: Another way you can help both caregivers and those struggling with the disease during Alzheimer’s Awareness Month is to participate in an Alzheimer’s Walk or raise money for an Alzheimer’s charity. Our purple ribbon gifts can also be sold to raise money for Alzheimer’s awareness. You can often raise more money by selling purple ribbon gift items than you can by asking for straight donations. Be sure to browse our selection of purple ribbon gifts for Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, and check out our Fundraising Tips for great ideas on how you can raise your money!

Red Ribbon News – World AIDS Day is December 1, 2011

Support AIDS awareness charities during December. Wear a red ribbon for World AIDS Day and show the world you care.

What do you think of when you see an AIDS ribbon? Do you think of Africa, where, according to avert.com, nearly nine out of ten children who have AIDS in the world are located? Do you think of the world as a whole, where more than 16 million children have lost one or both their parents to the disease? Do you think of the United States, where the CDC documents that African-American men and gay men are the most severely impacted, and it is estimated that 1 in 5 people living with HIV/AIDS are unaware that they have the disease? The more educated people become about AIDS, the more likely they are to practice safe sex and prevent its spread. That’s why it’s so important to help raise AIDS Awareness, especially on World AIDS Day, as well as show your support for those who have the disease, or have passed away from it, by wearing a red ribbon in their honor.

AIDS Red Ribbon | AIDS Awareness Ribbon | World AIDS Day

AIDS Red Ribbon | AIDS Awareness Ribbon | World AIDS Day

The theme of World AIDS Day is “Getting to Zero” – zero deaths from AIDS. This is a high bar to reach, but with the support of people just like you, it can eventually be done. Want to show show your support for AIDS Awareness? Why not organize a Facing AIDS event in your town? Get your friends, family members and co-workers together and have them write on a sign why they are Facing AIDS. Maybe they know a friend or loved one who is struggling, or who is HIV positive and doing well. Maybe they lost someone to AIDS. Maybe they themselves are HIV positive and want to help raise AIDS awareness by showing that they can make good choices to keep themselves healthy and avoid the spread of the disease. No matter what their reason, have them write it on a sign and snap their photo, which then gets uploaded to the Facing AIDS website. As you’re taking the pictures, invite people to make a contribution to your favorite AIDS awareness charity. Thank them with a red ribbon silicone bracelet or an AIDS awareness ribbon pin, and be sure to have some extra items on hand that you can sell for additional donations. Set up a table with a red tablecloth, tie some red ribbon balloons to a chair, and put up a red ribbon banner to draw attention to your cause, and you’re all set!

This December, celebrate World AIDS Day on December 1 by helping raise AIDS awareness and money for your favorite AIDS-related charity, and be sure to wear your red ribbon to show your support! Try this idea and comment back to let us know how it went, and be sure to check out even more of our fundraising tips!

November is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

One in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.  Wear a purple ribbon to raise awareness about this sad epidemic that destroys lives every day.

The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence statistics are thought provoking.   Most domestic violence assaults are not reported to the police. Many are witnessed by children, making a lasting impression.  Many grow up to be in abusive relationships themselves; many become abusers.  This November, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, you can help spread the word about domestic violence awareness and work toward breaking this vicious cycle.

Purple Ribbon Items

Purple Ribbon Items

If you would like to raise money to fund the fight against domestic violence, there are many organizations you can help. You can donate to a national organization, or you can reach out to a domestic violence shelter in your area. Many times, these organizations are in need of in kind gifts, such as articles of clothing for the women,  and toys for the children, they take in.  You can donate some purple ribbon socks or purple ribbon scarves for the adults, or purple ribbon teddy bears for the children, or you can sell purple ribbon items like purple ribbon jewelry and purple ribbon baseball hats to raise money to purchase coats, shoes, toiletries and other much needed items.   With the holidays coming up, you may want to offer the shelter some beautiful purple ribbon charm bracelets or purple ribbon pins to give to their residents.

If you know someone who is in a domestic violence situation, or who you suspect might be, encourage her to call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233, or perhaps the Domestic Violence Hotline in her state or city.  You can get more information about the National Domestic Violence Hotline at http://www.thehotline.org/.

Commit to helping break the cycle during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  Comment and tell us how you helped.  Need fundraising tips?  We’ve got them for you at http://www.fundraisingforacause.com.

Gray Ribbon News – Raise Your Hand to Stop Diabetes During Diabetes Awareness Month

Wear a gray ribbon this November for Diabetes Awareness Month.

Diabetes awareness month gray ribbon

Diabetes awareness month gray ribbon

Join the American Diabetes Association in fighting this disease by pledging to Raise Your Hand to Stop Diabetes® and raising money for this cause, which the Association expects will affect as many as one in three Americans by 2050.  Selling gray ribbon fundraising merchandise and donating the profits to the American Diabetes Association and wearing a gray ribbon throughout the month of November, which is Diabetes awareness month, are great ways to show your support for those who struggle with diabetes or are at risk for contracting the disease.

Adults with Type 2 diabetes can often improve their health by sticking to a strict exercise and diet regimen. As you might imagine, it is sometimes difficult to resist sweets or get active, especially as Thanksgiving and the holidays draw near.  Academy Award winning actress Mira Sorvino supports her diabetic father, actor Paul Sorvino, during those tough times.

“Part of what you have to do is just encourage the person who’s living with diabetes to stay on the straight and narrow, which can be really rough, especially if other people are pushing unhealthy choices on them,” Ms. Sorvino recently told Metro.us. “Like, ‘Oh come on, have a piece of cake, live a little’ — they think that you’re depriving yourself, but for a person living with diabetes, when someone tries to hoist a big heavy dessert on them it’s really deleterious to their health.”

You can make a difference in the life of someone with diabetes by being supportive and not encouraging them to make a choice that could hurt them. Another great way you can show your support is by raising money to fight diabetes.  Selling gray ribbon fundraising merchandise is one of the best ways to collect donations and raise diabetes awareness.  You can set up a table with a gray tablecloth, gray ribbon balloons and a gray ribbon banner to catch the eye of passers by, and offer diabetes friendly snacks, like nuts and berries, both of which the American Diabetes Association calls “superfoods” for people with the disease.

When people come to the table to find out what’s going on, explain to them that you’re raising money for the American Diabetes Association during Diabetes awareness month and ask them to join you in the fight by buying a gray ribbon magnet and sticking it on their car, or by wearing a gray silicone diabetes awareness bracelet, which you can offer them in exchange for a donation.  These items are just a few of the huge selection of gray ribbon fundraising merchandise available for you to sell.  You will be pleased with how happy people will be to help you raise money and what an enthusiastic response you’ll receive as they join you in the fight against during Diabetes awareness month, so go ahead, Raise Your Hand to Stop Diabetes® and start raising money today.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s Purple Ribbon Fundraising Tips

November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month – Join in the Fight Against This Dreaded Disease

Alzheimer’s Disease is one of the cruelest diseases, slowly but surely stealing its victims’ memories. Sadly, too many of us know someone who has been affected by Alzheimer’s, but this November, during Alzheimer’s Awareness month, people across the United States will come together to fight to find a cure by participating in the Alzheimer Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s events. Over 38,000 teams have already signed up to walk, and you still have time to join. Whether you support an existing team or start a team of your own, you will want to raise money to donate to this worth cause. Alzheimer’s disease is symbolized by the purple ribbon, and one of the best ways to raise money is to sell purple ribbon fundraising merchandise and donating your profits to Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Here are some purple ribbon fundraising tips to get you started:

Purple Ribbon Fundraising Tip #1 – Share Your Story with Potential Donors
Let people know why raising money during Alzheimer’s awareness month is so important to you. If you are walking in honor of a friend or loved one, have some pictures of him/her with you at your purple ribbon fundraising table. Tell people that you’re participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s because you and your friends and family have been personally touched by this disease. If someone shares with you that he/she also lost someone to Alzheimer’s, or know someone who is currently struggling with it, offer to wear a purple ribbon with his/her name on it during the walk in exchange for a donation, or of course, invite him/her to join your team! One of the most important things to remember about having a successful purple ribbon fundraising event is that a personal story is always more effective than statistics, so don’t be shy about sharing your thoughts and feelings in order to secure support for your cause.

Purple Ribbon Fundraising Tip #2 – Sell Purple Ribbon Items You Would Be Proud To Wear or Own

Alzheimer's Awareness Purple Ribbon Jewelry

If you simply ask for a donation, you are likely to get a small amount from people sympathetic to your cause. However, if you sell high quality purple ribbon fundraising merchandise, people will be willing to give more money in exchange for something they will actually wear or use, or give as a gift. Consider selling purple ribbon jewelry like purple ribbon bracelets, purple ribbon charms and purple ribbon pins, which are as popular for how pretty they are as they are for their meaning.

Purple Ribbon Fundraising Tip #3 – Thank Your Supporters

Alzheimer's Awareness Purple Ribbon Thank You Card

Alzheimer's Awareness Purple Ribbon Thank You Card

Of course you will say thank you in person when someone donates to your cause, but sending him/her a purple ribbon thank you note card will really make an lasting impression. Write a personal note reminding donors why Alzheimer’s awareness month and your participation in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is so important to you, and praise them for joining in the fight against this disease! Everyone who gets a card will feel good about giving, which will make them more likely to give again in the future. It takes special people who truly care about others coming together to make a difference, so remember to take a moment not only to thank your supporters but also to feel good about what you are doing to fight Alzheimer’s.

Plant an Awareness Ribbon Garden

Honor survivors, fighters and the departed with an awareness ribbon garden

Awareness Ribbon Garden

Awareness Ribbon Garden

The Baltimore Sun reports that the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Maryland opened a “healing pink ribbon garden” shaped like a large pink awareness ribbon to commemorate breast cancer awareness month. Sporting beautiful pink flowers that will bloom for most of the year, the Center’s garden also features water flowing over stones that shape the awareness ribbon. If you are a member of a garden club, or if you would like to get a group of people together to plant an awareness ribbon garden in a public place to spotlight the cause that means the most to you, you can solicit partners and collect donations to complete the project, just like the Medical Center did. Here are some easy and fun ideas you can use to help you raise your money:

Awareness Ribbon Garden Fundraising Tip #1 – Draw attention to your project.

Once you have approval and/or permits to proceed, hang banners and balloons to attract people to the awareness ribbon garden site. If you’re doing a pink ribbon garden, use pink ribbon balloons and pink ribbon banners. For an AIDS awareness garden, you would hang red ribbon banners and red ribbon balloons. You can use several different color flowers (red, yellow and blue) if you plant an Autism awareness ribbon garden, or you can do a Autism puzzle piece garden instead, with Autism ribbon banners and Autism puzzle piece balloons marking the spot where the garden will be. Be sure to let your local newspapers, blogs, and cable public access stations know that you’re raising money to plant an awareness ribbon garden, and share your story about why your cause means so much to you.

Awareness Ribbon Garden Fundraising Tip #2 – Offer something in exchange for a donation.

Many people will be happy to donate towards the awareness ribbon garden. Wouldn’t it be great if they helped you spread the word about the project? You can encourage them to do just that by offering them pink silicone bracelets in exchange for their donations if you are planting a pink ribbon garden for breast cancer awareness, red silicone bracelets if your cause is AIDS awareness, or Autism silicone bracelets if you’re planting an Autism awareness ribbon garden or autism puzzle piece garden. Awareness ribbon bracelets are very colorful, so they attract attention and start conversations. People who are excited about helping your cause are bound to talk up your awareness ribbon garden project when they speak with family, friends and co-workers, and their enthusiasm is catching! You may end up attracting additional donors just by offering a gift to those who give.

Awareness Ribbon Garden Fundraising Tip #3 – Set a modest budget, stick to it, and donate any excess funds to charity.

It’s wonderful to plant an awareness ribbon garden where people can come remember, reflect and renew. Wouldn’t it be even more wonderful if one day they find a cure for breast cancer, AIDS, Autism, or the myriad of diseases that impact our lives and the lives of our loved ones? You can help in the fight by raising funds over and above the amount needed for your awareness ribbon garden and donating the extra money to your favorite charity. You can raise additional funds by selling pink ribbon fundraising merchandise, red ribbon fundraising merchandise, Autism ribbon fundraising merchandise, or awareness ribbon merchandise that symbolizes the cause that means the most to you. Be sure to let people know that any money raised over the cost of the awareness ribbon garden will be donated to charity. People may be happy to give a little extra, helping you raise more money for your cause!

No matter what cause you support or what disease has touched your life, planting an awareness ribbon garden is a wonderful way to pay tribute and offer hope, and it can also be a great way to raise money to help in the fight. If you plant an awareness ribbon garden, please comment with details on what you did and how you made a difference!
